A complex romance with twists, turns, and obstacles. The story has heroes and villains, family and friends, enemies and complex characters who fit multiple categories. The main characters initially appear to be in a straightforward relationship leading to an expected route to happily ever after, but that would be boring. The actual story builds on the various characters and their capability for good and evil as well as selfishness and unselfishness taking the round about route to a happily ever after.The two main characters are realistic. They have positive and negative traits, good and bad assumtions, and hidden expectations that influence their behaviors. This enhances their interactions and their relationship making the romance more believable.
The supporting characters are more one-dimensional, but they keep the story moving. Examples include: The rich dad who has no doubt that things will always go his way. The friends that are supportive and have just the right advice at just the right moment. The long term enemy always looking for a way to 'win.'
The story revolves around a young girl from a rich, influential family who chooses to sign up to train for a position with the Yedeshi military as a warrior bride. The Yedeshi are aliens living on earth. Her family doesn't understand her choice. Her father, despite respecting the Yadeshi warrior she is set to join with, has determined that she really needs to marry someone of his choosing who will help to further his career and increase his influence. His determination goes well beyond a controlling father to being villainous. His actions greatly influence the progression of the story and of the relationship between the two main characters.
When her father utilizes an old, obscure law to trap Gayle, she plots leaves Earth and succeeds. Little does she know that this actually makes her a criminal and subjects her to being incarcerated and returned to Earth and her father. To solve this issue, her Yadeshi warrior, Ithann, makes some significant decisions and changes without her knowledge or permission. This reminds Gayle that Ithann may be more like her father than she would like. It also introduces the concept of slavery. This leads to more questionable decisions on her part which take the story down some unexpected paths. Ithann does consciously try to give her the freedom her dad denied her, but that in turn leads to other issues when she follows her desires.
I don't want to get into too many details and spoil the story for you. There is a happily ever after for our two main characters. The twists and turns that get them to it are the heart of the story. It is a joy to read and I strongly recommend that you take the opportunity to purchase this book.
The genre of this story is one of my favorites. I love the Male Alien and Female human romance genre and the scenario of an alien species being on earth and looking for Human women is also a favorite sub genre. Being a subject I really enjoy enhanced the experience of reading this story.

This is one of my first books from this author and I must admit I really enjoyed it. I do know that it is the third in a series and I was able to read it as a standalone which did make me happy. i did meet the couple from book 2 but nothing was really given up about there story so I will be able to save money and go back and get the first 2 when I can. I did not like Ithann at many points through the book but i did understand him and knew that what he did to Gayle was his way to make sure she was strong enough to handle him and the problems she may face in her future with him. Ithann wanted a warrior woman and Gayle was that in every way. I did not feel like he was abusing her because she had a personality like him and actually enjoyed it. I did like to see his little loving moments and even his break down after his fight. The book did leave alot of questions because while it does have a final ending it does leave you wondering if more books will figure out the end to the Platon issue that is going on or if another book will take us away from that part. The book was written very well and I enjoyed it
Gayle is trying to be her own person. But as those around her have said she is daddy's princess. She comes from the upper tier unlike all of the other heroines in this series. But being upper tier does not mean that her life has been easy. She has been working extremely hard to be able to become independent but when her family steps in to force a betrothal she knows her time has run out. Now she either needs to move forward with her plans to bag her teacher or she will need to find another way out.
Ithann has been staking Gayle out for quite some time. But being a prince means he knows he ahs to do things in the right order. He has to get permission to court her. But the little "details" in the way does not mean he can not have some delicious fun with her before he finally gets permission to bond with the human female who he knows will be able to handle his *ahem* intense ways in the bedroom.
This was a great read that had humor both dark and funny, intense love scenes, BDSM qualities, and quite a bit of danger. But I have got to say that while I absolutely love the characters and how this was written my favorite part of this book was the fact that it was a matriarchal society and the fact that even though the men are intensely alpha it is the women who have the real power in this society.
Gayle was born with a silver spoon in her mouth and signed up to become a warrior-bride-in training. Her parents don't approve and things come to a head with her father. Ithann is her teacher and would be lover, but he is so much more than he first appears. This was my first book in the series but it was easy to fall into their world. I really loved Gayle and how she was determined to find a way to make her own way, not just live on daddy or a husband. Now I need to go read the others in this series!!
